    Looks great! I would like to take longer trips on my CT125 here in Thailand but not comfortable with my bike and I don't want to buy another bike. So my question, what is the widest street tires can I fit on the CT125 and what gear sprocket for road use. I don't go on trails, so I want it to be more stable on the road. Thank you

    • @TeamDNFracing
      @TeamDNFracing 10 дней назад

      Terry, you can run up to a 3.00 front tire and a 3.25 on the rear, we've tried them and they seem petty stable. As for the gearing on the bike for pavement only. We would still run the stock 14T on the front and we would still run the 42T on the rear. Here is why, the slightly lower gearing gives you a much better low end take off and it doesn't fall flat near as easy as using the stock 39T on the rear. Try it and see what you think. Living in Thailand you have the luxury of very inexpensive parts for the Honda CT. Sprockets are relatively cheap and you can experiment with them at little cost to your pocket. So far, we've all gone with the 42T rear and feel it gives the right amount of low end and we aren't looking to go 90 KPH with our bikes anyway. We can still cruise around most of the hi ways at a comfortable 75 to 80 KPH and avoid most of the crazy traffic individuals trying to run you over. So try those settings and see what you think. Your stock tires are really not that bad of a road only tire. Don't know if you can get them in any other sizes, but I would think so but we have gone to the Vee Rubber tires and the traction they give on pavement seems to be just as good as the stock IRC tires gave us.... Hope this helps, but don't be afraid to experiment on your own...

      That is an excellent bike for this kind of riding, sadly, for me at my age. The Triumph was just to heavy and I knew that if I dropped it, I'd never be able to lift it back up by myself so that prompted me to go ahead and sell it. If I had still lived in the part of Oklahoma I'm from, that bike would have been perfect, but the mountain areas around Chiang Mai just presents to many chances to fall over on a heavy bike like the triumph.... Loved the power and especially that low end torque it had.... The trips I did ride on it where just pure joy.....

    Nice video and looks like a good tour. About 7 years ago, I rented a Toyota Yaris in Chiang Rai and drove around the countryside and mountains in the north for about a week and returned the car in Chiang Mai. Does your dog still have that raw spot on its nose?

    • @TeamDNFracing
      @TeamDNFracing 11 дней назад

      My dog got that spot when she was very young from always wanting to bury her treats, so we stopped giving her treats, she then started burying any food left over on her plate. After fighting this, we finally had to feed her in a certain spot and when she looked like she was through, her plate was put away and all she then had was her water bowl and her crunchy dog food. She stopped burying her food and her nose healed up nicely. That is an old picture of her, so I stuck it on this clip. She has not spot on her nose now and with our tactics she doesn't have a chance to bury any food and she hasn't had a treat in a very long while... She's still lazy though....

    As always, an awesome video! Looks like this video introduces us to another one of your motorcycles, a Yamaha...XSR, perhaps. Makes me think that it would be great if you'd release a video about all of your vehicles, their fate (you still own it, sold it, borrowed it, etc), and the like. If I'm keeping track correctly, you have: the new Yamaha in this video, your Yamaha WR155R, the red Triumph Street Twin 900HT (loved its exhaust note!), your famous and awesome tan Honda CT125, a white Honda Wave 125i, Toyota Camry, Toyota Hilux, the white Tata truck, and were considering the purchase of that new and more utilitarian diesel-powered Toyota truck. Also, am wondering why you'd want to replace the Tata with another truck when you seemingly still have the Hilux. Please forgive me if I'm being too nosy, but you've gracefully shared many of these vehicles with us and am really curious about what happened to them as well as what you still drive. As always, thanks, be safe, and I sincerely wish you the best!!! --Jerry

    • @TeamDNFracing
      @TeamDNFracing 17 дней назад

      Jerry, thanks for the comment. As for all of our vehicles, here is what is still here: Toyota Revo pickup, Toyota Camry, TaTa pickup, Honda CT 125, Yamaha WR155R and the newest bike the Yamaha XRS155. What is gone and why: Honda Wave 125i, it was a 2013 model and my new Honda CT 125 was meant to be its replacement, eventually it was and my wife agreed to let me have a street only bike if I sold the Wave, so I sold the wave and I wanted a small street bike no larger than a 250cc. The wife said why don't you buy one of these and she showed me the picture of the Triumph. How could I say no to my wife with that kind of logic? I couldn't, so I bought the Triumph 900 Street Twin. That bike was so awesome and the torque on it was so smooth and it handled great in the Northern mountains around Chiang Mai, BUT.... It was a really heavy bike and the older I get, the less strength I have. If I had ever tipped over on that bike, I would never of been able to lift it up by myself. So, I sold it and bought the Yamaha WR155R for riding off road with and decided to just use the CT as my daily driver. Well, that was cool until one day on a ride with some of Roberts friends, one of them had a Yamaha XSR155 and I let him ride my CT and he let me ride his XSR. It has the exact same engine as my Yamaha WR and it seemed to handle pretty good on dirt roads, so that would now be my choice of street only bikes. That's how I ended up with the three bikes I have now...Those will stay with me for the for seeable future, I like all of them, they are light enough that I can easily pick them up if I tip over and they all handle very well. As for the TaTa, it is and always has been our work truck. When we need something heavy hauled in or out of our property, it gets used and not our Toyota Revo pickup, (which is my wife's daily driver). She only uses her Camry for special trips, like taking her mother places etc. I am about half way to saving up for the new Toyota Champ pickup which will be my daily driver and our new work truck. Still need to sell the TaTa first also. I'm editing the second day of the Adventure Ride now and will post it when finished with the editing. I'll still have three more of the trip to do also. I also have footage of the new Toyota in the dark gray color so that needs editing also. My CT is in the shop having a manual clutch installed and in October I'll be going down to Lampang for another Enduro only this time with my CT as the bike I'll be riding.... Should be an interesting adventure in itself.... You've gotta love Thailand..... So much to do here, perfect place to retire too.....

      @@TeamDNFracing Eddie, thank you so much for the explanation. Now, it's all in focus! You live a fascinating life, from my perspective. Can definitely understand your concern about lifting up a heavy motorcycle. I've never owned one, but am highly interested in buying a CT to use here in Washington state (I live in Everett, about 25 miles north of Seattle). My concern is exactly the same, struggling with a potentially overly heavy motorcycle. We did a route intro video a few days before starting this adventure and showed the route on a GPS map for each days route. Check that video out and as for GPS pings for the places we stopped at, most of them were just spots that looked good to stop at for a beer or snack and a bite to eat. There are so many locals along a 1,000 Kilometer ride to stop and enjoy a rest, or photo opt or a beer or a meal, I'd be showing those every kilometer or so on the ride. If you decide to ride this adventure, just go slow enough that you can stop when ever you want to. @TeamDNFracing Месяц назад

      My first thought on your question is "Why would I want a set of Shinko SR 241 tires to go ride in a Thai Enduro"? Not to be sarcastic, but those tires are very similar to the IRC and Vee-Rubber tires we can get here in Thailand and we run the Vee-Rubber tires on our bikes now for everyday use. They work very well on most every surface except, rocky, tree roots and rutted trails. We need a full on knobby tire and that is what the Camel Moto Cross tire is. We've done extensive tire testing the past four years on our Honda CT's and if all you are going to ride is pavement, then the stock IRC tire that comes with the bike is as good as any tire out there. If you want to ride pavement and off road, we have found the Vee-Rubber tires work the best on all conditions and will last longer than the IRC with the same tread pattern which is the same as the Shinko tires pattern. Thanks for the comment, but I need a tire that works extremely good Offroad, and the Camel Motocross knobby tire does that very well. I set the pressure at 10 PSI for competition with these and it flexes and bites exactly the way I need it to. The Shinko, just won't bite like a full knobby tire does.....

    • @TeamDNFracing
      @TeamDNFracing Месяц назад

      In 1982 the Husqvarna race bikes came with a 17 inch rear wheel. The CT has a 17 inch rear wheel, I'd much rather have a 21 inch wheel up front, a little longer swing arm and longer rear shocks with longer front forks. No need to go to a LS engine, just need to utilize what this engine has to be able to keep it in the torque sweet spot, a manual clutch will do that. The Thai racers regularly modify the Honda Wave bikes and it's amazing what they can do with them and the places they can go on them. Suspension is the key to be able to go places and being able to keep the power at the right RPM's....

      On pavement straight roads it handle great, with the V-Rubber tires on it. Just a little more care is needed on pavement with the knobbies on it. On dirt roads, sand and mud as it is now, it handles very well also and I'll be doing a short video on the rice paddies to show that before we go to the Lampang Enduro in October. I did have the front tire wash out on me the other day on a paved corner that had a lip in it and a bit of loose gravel. First time for that to happen. As for the top speed it is now geared for off road and it will do 100 KPH but I don't like running it up that high. Normally, we keep them around 60 to 70 KPH and that's plenty fast enough for me.... The camshaft that came with the High Speed head really let it rev out and that was partly because when they installed that on it, they raised the limit on the Rev-limiter which I didn't know they did, but it was really fast with that setup, just had no low end....

      This is the first off road ride I've had on the CT since I had all the work done. It is also in the process of being set up to ride in a Thai Enduro in October. Have to find out what works and what doesn't. Going to have a manual clutch installed on it so it is easier to get the RPM's up to the sweet Torque range. With the setup it has, on really steep terrain it is difficult to get it to power up. I've still got the Yamaha WR155 but will ride it in more open terrain events where the suspension and longer wheelbase shows off the power and handling. In really tight terrain like this was, it is extremely heavy at 285 pounds and is difficult for me to lift it up when I tip over with it. Different bikes for different terrain....
